This low-density villa project in Hong Lok Yuen, Tai Po, is designed to capitalise on its generous space to meet modern families’ needs for comfort and practicality. An open-plan living and dining arrangement supports everyday social interaction, while warm materials and carefully considered lighting create a cosy atmosphere. The overall design emphasises long-term practicality and flexibility, offering a harmonious and refined living environment within Hong Kong’s established upscale neighbourhoods.
Introducing natural light and even illumination creates a bright, harmonious and visually pleasing living environment in the villa's basement level.
The design capitalises on the villa's generous proportions by linking the living room, dining area and open kitchen. This layout enhances spatial permeability and provides settings for family interaction while maintaining flexibility across the zones. Warm timber elements are paired with a restrained colour palette, and continuity is achieved across spaces through concealed light strips and feature pendants. This brings a cosy, comfortable atmosphere to the generous living areas. Photographs show a minimalist sofa, TV wall and a distinctive coffee table in the living area.
Alongside refined design, attention is given to long‑term functionality and adaptability. The entrance and corridor areas include timber concealed storage cabinets and display spaces to meet modern household storage needs while maintaining overall order and aesthetic. To address diverse contemporary family needs, the design incorporates a flexible multifunctional space. The Japanese‑style tea room uses tatami and timber display cabinets to create a quiet corner for reading or quiet rest.
